If we want to take a rest from our trip through the lands of Iria, one of the best places in Padron is the Riverwalk El Espolón”, located in the midst of the historic center of Padron. Covered by shade on either side and presided by a monument of two of the most important writers to date at each end.
At the north end we find the statue of the poet Rosalia de Castro, made in 1957 by José María Mateos which was funded by a Padron Community Association in Uruguay as is reads on the statue. At the southern end of the riverwalk, we have the Nobel Prize for Literature winner Camilo Jose Cela which is the work of Ferreiro Badia in 2003.
Under this grove every Sunday of the year, since the Middle Ages, a typical market is celebrated, that sells any kind of goods that a visitors can imagine,, and as a result thousands of people from all of Galicia are attracted here.
